The mini-schnauzer I just adopted from a rescue club came from an owner who is a Marine and was just deployed. Just the sweetest little guy and so loving to every one he meets. He is alreay house broken and sleeps through the night. The rescue club had him micro-chipped, licensed, neutered and started with an insurance program. The also gave me a pile of items, leash, collar, bed, toys, coupons and a book with all of his vet history and care instructions. When they had him microchipped they put the rescue club down as a second person to call incase I can not be reached they will act as a back up.

I agree with your great advice and highly recommend going through a rescue group.
