It was in the ice cold state of Minnesota. Pine City Minnesota to be exact. Where Police say a 15 year old German Shepherd saved the life of an unconscious man.
Effie the 15 year old dog, was on her usual walk with her owner Brett. But decided today to go a different way. Brett thought this was odd as Effie rarely goes the opposite way. All of sudden Effie took off running to the neighbors house. At the neighbors house Effie and Brett found 94 year old William Lepsch, face down in his driveway. Effie began to lick his face as Brett called 911. William did regain consciousness but is in serious condition at North Memorial Medical Center.

One Cute Chihuahua
We have all seen movies where the adorable child opens up a big Christmas box on Christmas morning to be surprisingly licked by a cute little puppy.
It’s all so cute, until the puppy grows up, with its issues that could have been taken care of if he was properly trained as a puppy. Puppies are forever, not just for Christmas. If you plan on buying, or better yet rescuing a puppy this holiday and giving it to someone, make sure they are ready to take on the responsibilities of a dog. Puppies, are a lot of work. They bare some of the same stresses as a new born baby. Feeding, peeing, teething. It is constant!
Better yet, why not adopt an adult dog. I can think of some great reasons. This older dog, won’t pee on your Christmas tree. It most likely is already potty trained. He will already have his teeth, so no teething problems. He won’t chew up the Christmas gifts. Also, you won’t have to pay to get him neutered as that is usually already done by the adoption organization before the adoption.
And my favorite part. I think the dog really knows, I mean really knows that you saved them. The way they will look at you. The way they will just lay there and let you pet them, they really do know, you love them, and they will be appreciative of that. That is a great Christmas gift, unconditional love! So, please Remember Dogs are long Term, not just for Fun on Christmas Morning.

missing beagle saved
Well yes, 98 days on an Island would be great if there were plenty of Pina Coladas and Steel Drum music. Unfortunately, This was not the case for Buddy, a 4 year old Beagle.
The good news is that Buddy was reunited with his Family, The Kelley’s, after spending 98 days on an uninhabited Gull Island off of New Jersey.
Buddy’s family was on Manasquan beach back in August when buddy decided to get some “long travel plans.” He took off and nobody could catch him.
After about 60 days someone spotted a skinny little beagle along railroad tracks near the deserted island. According to Fox News Edith Kelley. “The Coast Guard said they had seen him digging in the sand. Most likely looking for clams or sand crabs.”
Oh, but buddy doesn’t run to the Coast Guard like you and I would. He decides to continue on his island adventure. “Come’on Buddy, don’t you want to go home?”
It took a local man known as Muskrat to trap Buddy. This little beagle was once 35 lbs. He was down to 19 lbs by the time Muscrat trapped him. “The Kelley’s, were ecstatic to see him. They could not believe that this little guy survived this horrific ordeal.
The Kelley’s son, Patrick said, “He cannot believe how he survived. Its a miracle. Buddy is acting like he never left.”
Just in time for the Holidays, good move Buddy. Now, if only Santa would bring Buddy a GPS collar for Christmas!

Michael Vick wants dogs again? Come’on Mike you have got to be kidding. Well that is what he told a group of kids in New Jersey on Tuesday. Mike says,
“If I help more dogs than I have hurt than I can turn this negative situation into a positive one.” He told the kids. “He should have known better.”
If you don’t know about Vick he got thrown out of the NFL for 2 years for raising pit bulls to fight at his home in Virginia. He ended up in the federal pen at Leavenworth.
Why was he talking to the kids in New Jersey in the first place? Well, it is not part of his sentence, he does it all on his own, strictly voluntary. (If you believe that, I’ve got some land to sell you in the swamp.) He speaks against dog fighting with the United States Humane Society.
“I personally hope he has to speak about this to kids for many years to come.”
So, Vick wants a dog. I guess that is up to the judge.
